Hajós is a Swabian village, famous for it’s wine making. The cellar village is the unique pearl of ethnic architecture. It was created at the fracture site of the old Danube basin: here the ground consists of clay and sand suitable for growing grape and other fruits. In the lose soil the locals drilled more than 1,200 press-houses and wine cellars, where the wine of Hajós mature. The structure of the cellar village is unique: the press houses are completely separated from the settlement of the owners’ residences – they are almost three kilometers from the town. Upon arrival we take a short walk, visiting two of the cellars and tasting the selection of wines.
Duration: 3 hours.
